Description:
Despite its sordid associations, P. somniferum is a beautiful garden annual with attractive glaucous green leaves and large flowers that brighten any meadow garden. The large seed pods are also excellent for dried arrangements. Height to 4 feet; spread 12 inches. Poppy seeds of Papaver somniferum are an important food item and the source of poppyseed oil, a healthy edible oil that has many uses. It is widely grown as an ornamental flower throughout Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.

Cultivation:
Sow seed where it is to grow. Protect seeds and seedlings from birds. Grow in deep, fertile well-drained soil in full sun. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
